About Willie Johnson . . .
Willie Joe Johnson is a Performance Development Consultant / Corporate Training Manager for fortune
500 company J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. He has served J.B. Hunt and their 16,000 plus employees
since April 1990.
Upon graduation from Yuma High School, Mr. Johnson attended Arizona Western College for a year before
being drafted into the U.S. Army. This was the beginning of a 23 year military career. He specialized in
Quartermaster Logistics. During Mr. Johnson’s 23 year military career, he honorable served our country
at various U.S. military installations, Europe, Germany, Korea, and Vietnam. He received several military
awards during his tenure. While in the service, Mr. Johnson attended evening classes with the University
of Maryland, Western Kentucky College, and Park College, to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in
Management/Human Resources from Park College. To his credit, he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Mr.
Johnson honorably retired from the U.S. Army as a Chief Warrant Officer Three (CWO-3) in January 1990.
Mr. Johnson began his career with J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc in April 1990 after leaving the military.
Since that time, Mr. Johnson has held various increasingly challenging positions. He is currently a
Performance Development Consultant / Corporate Training Manager for J.B. Hunt. As a Training Manager
and Facilitator, he is responsible for assessing training needs and facilitating training workshops to J.B.
Hunt’s 16,000 plus employees. As a Certified Training Designer and Developer, Mr. Johnson gives
regular training workshops on Conflict Management, Customer Service, Presentation Skills, and
Leadership Skills. He is also a Certified Client Facilitator for Franklin Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective
People workshop and Covey’s 4 Roles of Leadership workshop; providing these workshops within his
licensed organization. As a Performance Development Consultant, Willie is involved in several levels of
individual, personnel counseling and coaching.
In addition to working hard and delivering training within J.B. Hunt, Mr. Johnson is also very active in civic
and community activities. He is a past board member of The Arts Center of the Ozarks and is currently a
coalition member of the Jones Center for Families F.R.E.E. School. Mr. Johnson counts it a blessing to be
able to give back to the community and routinely conducts evening learning sessions at the F.R.E.E
School on Customer Service, Conflict Management, Building Self-Confidence and Leadership Skills, just to
name a few.
A Toastmaster of more than 15 years, Mr. Johnson is well known as a Motivational/Inspirational speaker.
He was honored as the District 43 Toastmaster of the Year in 1999 and awarded Distinguished
Toastmaster status. He writes regular motivational articles for J.B. Hunt’s “TODAY” magazine. He loves
speaking to teenagers and above on the subject of “How to Obtain Success in Life”, and the benefits of
“Developing and Maintaining a Positive Mental Attitude”. Mr. Johnson would tell you that without a doubt
that although delivering training to the employees of J.B. Hunt is great and has its rewards; his most
rewarding speaking engagements were being a graduation commencement speaker for the Northwest
Arkansas Technical Institute, the Jefferson Elementary School and to a group of teenagers going through
a court ordered Boot Camp Program.
When asked what it takes to succeed in life, Mr. Johnson is quick to tell his audiences the
following:
- Keep Your Integrity and Never Compromise Your Character: Integrity is a moral value which
means that a person is the same on the inside as they claim to be on the outside. A person of
integrity can be trusted. “Trust” being the foundation of any lasting relationship.
- Develop and Maintain A Positive and Winning Attitude: Your attitude today, determines you
success for tomorrow. Yes, attitude impacts everything you do.
- Choose To Take Charge of Your Life: By finding your Purpose and Passion. To transform your
attitude in action, you must accept responsibility for what goes on inside your mind by monitoring
your internal dialogue. Just remember, your choices determine your happiness and affect your
success.
- You Cannot Have A Positive Life And A Negative Mind: Learn to discipline your mind and
thoughts you fill it with. It is not the mountain we conquer, but our minds.
- Success Is For Everyone: The reality is that success and fulfillment is in knowing who you are
and what your purpose in life is and helping others along the way.
- Before Anything Else, Getting Ready Is The Secret Of Success: By identifying your goals you
will determine your priorities. Your goals will then map out your actions and your actions will create
results.
